Noi Bai Airport

One of the best way to get to Halong Bay - the most beautiful bay in the world is to fly to Noi Bai International Airport, 40km away to the north of Hanoi, Vietnam. From the airport, you will travel to Halong City, there are numerous ways to reach this spot. The best of all is hiring a car, minivan or bus, with a private driver. With this method, the cost for your trip is a quite cheap choice and the driver are able to pick you up directly at the airport which is much safer for you. It’s not recommended that you should take a bus, because it is overcrowded, pick up passenger from the stops at every 5 minutes and it will take you almost 7 hours to reach Halong City. We highly recommend you to book your demand from Hanoi or Hanoi Airport.

Nội Bài International Airport (In Vietnamese words: Sân Bay Quốc Tế Nội Bài) in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is the largest airport in Vietnam in terms of the total capacity. At the present, Cat Bi airport mostly serves domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. JetStar Pacific and Vietnam Airlines are the only two airlines which are ultilizing this airport. Despite of being minor airport, there is a direct route that connected to Macau and Haiphong. It takes 80km from Cat Bi airport to Cat Ba Island.

From Da Nang, there is only one flight per day in weekdays (except for Tuesday and Saturday) to Haiphong. Ticket costs $70 and the flight takes around 1.5 hours.

From Ho Chi Minh City, four daily flights depart at 7:00; 11:15; 12:50; and 16:55 respectively. Each trip takes 2 hours and costs from $70 for Economy Class, $160 for Business Class.

From Haiphong airport to Halong Bay

The distance from the airport to Halong city of Quang Ninh province is about 100km, you have many options to reach Halong to enter the center of the city. You can either take a taxi with the average cost of VND 2 million VND (roughly ~100$) but we highly recommend not to take this means of transport, but instead, you can rent a motorcycle at VND 40,000/hour ($2). The more preferred way is taking a shuttle bus with the price ranges from 60.000 - 70.000VND

Van Don International Airport (Vietnamese: Sân bay quốc tế Vân Đồn) is an airport under construction of Vân Đồn District, Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam, the cradle for the world heritage Ha Long Bay. The airport is 50 km (31 miles) away from Hạ Long and 20 km (12 miles) from Cam Pha city, this place is scheduled to be opened in June 2018. Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province will get ready for the first flight test in December 2017 and officially put into operation in the first quarter of 2018, as the airport’s building progress is now 80% completed according to the Ministry of Transport, a Halong Bay airport is not far away from the upcoming travelers in 2018
